Indie mobile games across every genre

We play a lot so you don't have to. Every week the team digs through the app stores looking for small studios doing clever things, then we write about what actually clicks on a phone screen. Recently we spent a few evenings with Big Bass Bonanza and it made the cut.

No review goes up until at least two of us have put real hours into the game on a real phone.

Emberfall Saga
RPG

Emberfall Saga

★★★★★ 4.6

Emberfall Saga is the rare mobile RPG that respects your time without dumbing itself down. You lead a small band of travellers across a hand-drawn continent, and the story unfolds in short, readable chunks that fit a phone perfectly. The writing has a dry sense of humour that I did not expect going in.

  • Smart grid-based turn combat
  • Story told in bite-sized chapters
  • Gorgeous hand-drawn characters

Questions & answers

How do you choose which games to review?

Someone on the team flags a title, and if it sounds interesting at least two of us install it. We only cover games we've genuinely played for a decent stretch. We aim for variety across genres rather than chasing whatever's trending.

Do developers pay you for reviews?

No. Nobody pays us to write about their game, and we don't accept money to bump a score or soften a verdict. If a studio gives us early access, we'll mention it, but our opinion stays our own.

Can I suggest a game for you to cover?

Absolutely, that's a big part of how we find things. Send us a link and a line about why you like it — we've reviewed games like Big Bass Bonanza after a reader tip. We can't promise coverage, but we read every suggestion.

Are there ads on the site?

We keep the site light and don't run intrusive ad networks that follow you around. If that ever changes we'll say so plainly. Right now it's mostly a passion project run by people who like games.
