Mobile RPGs that respect a busy schedule
The eternal problem with RPGs on a phone is length. These are games about hundreds of hours, and phones are about five-minute windows. Most attempts to bridge that gap end up shallow.
Emberfall Saga is the best solution I've played lately. It chops its story into short chapters you can finish on a coffee break, and its grid-based battles are quick without being brainless. Positioning matters, so even a two-minute fight makes you think.
The trick, I've realised, is that the game never punishes you for stepping away. You can put it down mid-town and pick up exactly where you left off, story beat and all. That's harder to design than it sounds.
If you've written off mobile RPGs as grindy time sinks, give this genre another look. The good ones now understand that your attention is the scarce resource, not your patience.
