Tilt controls are back, and Neon Drift Circuit makes the case
For years I've defaulted to touch steering in mobile racers because tilt controls used to be a mess. Then Neon Drift Circuit changed my mind over one long weekend.
The difference is that the whole game is designed around leaning. The tilt sensitivity is tuned so precisely that after a couple of races your hands just know how much to angle for each corner. It stops feeling like a gimmick and starts feeling like an extension of the drift.
If you're bouncing off tilt controls in general, my tip is to spend ten minutes in the practice track and resist the urge to overcorrect. Small movements. Once that clicks, chaining drifts becomes the best part of the game.
It won't convert everyone, and touch steering is there for a reason. But when a studio actually commits to tilt and tunes it this carefully, the result is something no button can match.
